The Edo State Government has confirmed three cases of monkey pox in the state. The State Director of Public Health, Dr. Ojeifo Stephenson made this known in a statement issued on behalf of the permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health.
Dr. Ojeifo confirmed that the cases were reported to the ministry in the past 72hrs.
He, however, revealed that the victims have been isolated and are currently receiving maximum care at state facilities, Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital and Edo State Teaching Hospital, Auchi.
He advised the public to maintain adequate Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures, and also assured that the state is collaborating with other stakeholders would continually provides enlightening materials to the public.
He called on the residents to report any suspected cases of the disease to state officials of the ministry.
