In a bid to promote economic empowerment in Kwara Central, Senator Saliu Mustapha has embarked on an extensive training and empowerment programme for 920 artisans and market women in the district.
The training, which commenced on Thursday, August 29th, 2024, with 320 beneficiaries, and continued on Sunday, September 1st, 2024, with 600 beneficiaries, aimed to provide participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to grow their businesses, boost their income, and reduce poverty.
Addressing the newsmen in Ilorin, Alhaja Raliat Ibrahim, a local market woman from Kwara Central, has expressed her gratitude to Senator Saliu Mustapha for his “incredible developmental projects” in the district.
According to her, Senator Mustapha’s efforts are making a real difference, and he is “doing it differently” from other politicians.
In her comments to journalists, Alhaja Raliat said, “Senator Saliu Mustapha has been a breath of fresh air for our Senatorial District. His commitment to empowering local artisans and market women is truly commendable. Through his training and empowerment programmes, he is not just talking about economic development but actually implementing projects that make a tangible impact on the lives of ordinary people.
The senator’s approach is unique in that he is not just focusing on big-ticket projects but also supporting small businesses and grassroots initiatives that are the lifeblood of our community. It is heartening to see a politician who truly understands the needs of the people and is working tirelessly to make a difference”, she noted.
This initiative, according to his Legislative Assistant Abdulkadir Tunde, is part of the senator’s broader commitment to grassroots development and improving the lives of his constituents.
By providing these artisans and market women with the necessary resources and skills, Senator Mustapha hopes to empower them to become more self-sufficient, contribute to the local economy, and ultimately improve the overall standard of living in Kwara Central.
“After the training, Senator Mustapha intends to distribute various equipment and supplies to the participants, including mechanical equipment, sewing machines, vlogging tools, generators, and more.
The importance of supporting small businesses, especially in rural and underserved areas, cannot be overstated. Not only do they provide essential goods and services to the local community, but they also create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
By investing in these artisans and market women, Senator Mustapha is sending a strong message that their work is valued and that he is committed to their success”, he emphasized.
This kind of support is crucial in fostering a thriving local economy and ensuring that the benefits of economic growth are felt by everyone, not just a privileged few.
