Ijagun, Ogun State – Tai Solarin University of Education has taken drastic measures against students engaging in academic and behavioral violations. The university’s Senate, in a meeting on July 31, 2024, decided to rusticate 31 students and suspend 47 others indefinitely.
According to the Registrar, Dapo Oke, the penalties were recommended by the Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee after thorough investigations. The affected students have been instructed to vacate the campus to prevent potential conflicts with university security.
The rusticated students include Ojo Micheal, a second-year Computer Science student, who falsified his CGPA to contest Student Union elections. Others were penalized for examination malpractice (17), threats to life (5), and fraudulent acts (1). Additionally, 47 students were suspended indefinitely for misconduct, and 10 were penalized for impersonation.
The university has reiterated its commitment to upholding discipline, warning that any student found guilty of misconduct will face severe repercussions in line with its regulations.
