The Kwara State Polytechnic has launched two new Higher National Diploma (HND) programs in Mass Communication and Computer Science, effective from the 2024/2025 academic session. This move is in line with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) directive aimed at enhancing the quality and relevance of technical education.
According to the Rector, Dr. Abdul Mohammed, the introduction of the new programs is a strategic response to the changing needs of the industry and the economy. “We are committed to producing graduates who are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to excel in their chosen fields,” he said.
The unbundling of the former Mass Communication and Computer Science program will allow students to specialize in specific areas, meeting industry demands. The new programs will provide students with a deeper understanding of their chosen field and prepare them for the challenges of the modern workplace.
The polytechnic has appointed new heads for the newly created departments and pledged to provide necessary resources and support for effective implementation. This includes state-of-the-art facilities, experienced lecturers, and opportunities for practical training and internship.
This development is expected to enhance the quality of education and produce graduates with specialized skills in line with industry demands. It is also expected to boost the polytechnic’s reputation as a center of excellence in technical education.
The Rector urged prospective students to take advantage of the new programs, assuring them of a world-class education that will prepare them for success in their chosen careers.
