The Oyo State Government has issued a stern warning to head teachers in public primary schools, prohibiting meetings during school hours. The directive aims to ensure strict adherence to the unified school timetable and maximize teaching time.
Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYO-SUBEB), made the announcement while monitoring schools’ resumption. Adeniran emphasized the importance of dedicating school hours to academic activities.
“We urge unions and associations within the basic education sub-sector to cooperate with this new policy,” Adeniran said. “Henceforth, any primary school head-teacher who indulges in holding meetings during school hours will be severely dealt with.”
Education Secretaries have been tasked with disseminating the information to head teachers in their respective local government universal basic education authorities.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality education in Oyo State’s public schools. The government has prioritized teacher recruitment, infrastructure development, and prompt payment of salaries to create a conducive learning environment.
The move to ban meetings during school hours is the latest effort to minimize disruptions and ensure teachers remain dedicated to their duties. By doing so, the Oyo State Government aims to improve academic performance and provide students with the best possible education.
Adeniran expressed satisfaction with the turnout of pupils in public schools and urged teachers to maintain their dedication. “We are committed to providing quality education, and we count on our teachers to make this vision a reality,” he said.
