The Kwara State Police Command has announced the implementation of stringent security measures and movement restrictions to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the upcoming Local Government Elections, scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 21st, 2024.
Curfew and Movement Restrictions
In order to prevent potential security breaches, a curfew will be imposed from 12:00 AM to 6:00 PM on election day, restricting all vehicular movement across the state.
Exemptions to the Curfew
The following individuals and groups are exempt from the curfew:
– Essential service providers
– Accredited electoral officials
– Authorized media personnel
– Electoral observers
– Emergency responders
Restrictions on VIP Security Details
Armed Security Personnel on VIP protection/escort duties are strictly prohibited from escorting their VIPs to polling booths.

Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya has urged residents to comply with the directive, emphasizing that violators will face the full force of the law.
