Popular social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) appeared at the House of Representatives on September 30, 2024, accompanied by a traditional spiritualist, commonly referred to as a ‘juju man’. This unusual move was part of the ongoing investigation into a ₦15 million bribery allegation involving Nigerian social media personality Bobrisky.
The House of Representatives had summoned VDM, Bobrisky, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, to address the bribery claims. The allegations suggest that Bobrisky paid ₦15 million to secure her release from prison and avoid facing corruption charges.
VDM, whose real name is Martins Otse, arrived at the hearing with the ‘juju man’ to underscore his commitment to uncovering the truth. The presence of the spiritualist was intended to symbolize a call for divine intervention and justice in the investigation.
During the session, VDM reiterated his accusations against Bobrisky, claiming that the social media influencer had bribed EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges against her. He presented audio recordings as evidence, which he had previously shared online.
The House of Representatives panel, led by Chairman Yusuf Gagdi, assured that the investigation would be thorough and impartial. They emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in addressing the allegations.
The hearing attracted significant public attention, with many Nigerians eagerly following the developments. The outcome of this investigation could have far-reaching implications for the individuals involved and the broader fight against corruption in Nigeria.
