House of Representatives member, Alhassan Doguwa, has responded sharply to recent criticisms made by former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, against the All Progressives Congress (APC). Kwankwaso, during a political event in Kano, claimed that Nigerians, particularly in the North, are disillusioned with the APC and will reject the party in the 2027 elections.
“Nigerians are tired and cannot endure beyond 2027,” Kwankwaso remarked while receiving defectors from the APC to his New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Doguwa, who serves as Chair of the Northern Regional Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives, dismissed Kwankwaso’s statement as a “mere hallucination,” asserting that the APC-led government, under President Bola Tinubu, is working tirelessly to improve Nigeria. He accused Kwankwaso of being embittered by his 2023 presidential loss to Tinubu and suggested that Kwankwaso should prepare for political retirement.
“In a political gathering on Thursday, my colleague Kwankwaso took his hallucination to the moon when he said Nigerians are tired of the APC and will change it in 2027,” Doguwa said in a statement on Friday. He further defended the APC’s performance, stating, “As we all know, President Bola Tinubu is not leaving any stone unturned in his quest to return our country to the path of progress and prosperity for the benefit of all.”
Doguwa also took aim at the NNPP, accusing the party of failing to deliver in Kano, and expressed confidence that the APC will reclaim the state in the next elections.
Highlighting Tinubu’s administration’s successes, Doguwa pointed to the attraction of over $30 billion in foreign direct investments, a reduction in the country’s debt service ratio, and significant progress in combating insecurity, particularly in the North West. “A fresh air is already permeating the North West given the onslaught against these bandits. Our people are now returning to their farms,” he added, praising the government’s efforts in restoring peace and rebuilding the region.
