Senator Saliu Mustapha has initiated an Advanced Solar Power Training Programme for young people in Kwara Central. The training, which began on October 17, 2024, is organized in collaboration with the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI). This three-day event is designed to equip participants with essential skills and tools in solar energy technology, promoting sustainable energy development.
Senator Mustapha, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of renewable energy and its potential to transform communities. He highlighted that solar energy, in particular, can provide a reliable and eco-friendly power source, reducing dependency on conventional energy systems and mitigating environmental impact.
The training program includes comprehensive modules on solar power installation, maintenance, and management, as well as practical sessions where participants get hands-on experience with solar equipment. Experts in the field of solar technology are leading the sessions, ensuring that the participants receive high-quality, practical education.
Participants in the program will also learn about the economic benefits of solar energy, including how to set up solar-powered businesses and the potential for job creation within their communities. By the end of the training, it is expected that attendees will not only have acquired technical skills but also a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial opportunities within the solar energy sector.
The initiative is part of Senator Mustapha’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development in Kwara Central. He expressed his vision for a future where young people are equipped with the skills needed to drive innovation and economic growth in their communities.
The program will conclude on October 19, 2024, with a closing ceremony where participants will receive certificates of completion. Senator Mustapha hopes that the skills and knowledge gained from this training will inspire the youth to pursue careers in renewable energy and contribute to the nation’s progress towards sustainable development.
