It was after our weekly program on Sobi FM that Sunday afternoon when my team and I first met Alhaji Uthman Jaguma. As we exited the Sobi FM gate, he pulled over and invited us into his vehicle, sparking a meaningful conversation. He praised our program’s promotion of transparency and accountability in the state, addressing me as “Comrade.” When he inquired about Professor Alagbonsi Abdullateef , ENetSuD coordinator, I shared that he was doing well in Rwanda.
Alhaji Jaguma’s resonates with me that Comrade, please when investigating projects executed by Ilorin or seeing Ilorin indigenes in positions, balance justice with mercy. We’re peace-loving and straightforward people. He emphasized his love for Ilorin Emirates and commitment to its progress and development.
Thus, I’ve since witnessed his dedication to Ilorin Emirates development firsthand, particularly during his tenure as Ilorin Emirates Youth Development Association (IEYDA) pioneer PRO and now as president and. His humility and willingness to support others are admirable traits. When I launched my first book in 2021, Alhaji Jaguma provided invaluable support both financially and by inviting dignitaries, including the Emir of Ilorin’s representative.
As I reflect on our encounter, I’m reminded of the importance of humble leadership, which involves viewing oneself accurately, appreciating others strengths and contributions, and modeling teachability Alhaji Jaguma embodies these qualities, making him a respected and effective leader.
I wish him a fruitful tenure, promoting Ilorin Emirates culture and image. His leadership style, characterized by humility and empathy, is essential in today’s world, where narcissistic tendencies often dominate. By balancing justice with mercy, Alhaji Jaguma demonstrates the true spirit of humble leadership.
