Nigeria was once again plunged into darkness on Tuesday following another national grid collapse. The incident, reported by the National Nigeria Grid’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, occurred around 2:09 pm and adds to a troubling pattern, with at least eight grid collapses recorded so far in 2024.
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) issued a statement confirming a “general system collapse” at 1:52 pm, which has left customers across its network without power. Emeka Ezeh, EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, noted that all TCN interface stations serving their network are down, affecting supply to Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Imo States.
EEDC is currently on standby, awaiting further updates on the cause and restoration efforts from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo.
