Kwara Express has exclusively gathered that Team New Nigeria (TNN), a political group instrumental in the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s 2015 election victory, has officially severed ties with the ruling party. The group announced its transition into a full-fledged political party, with over 26 million Nigerians already registered as members.
This development was disclosed by TNN’s National President, Modibbo Yakubun Farakwai, during the inauguration of the Kano State Harmonisation Committee on Sunday. Farakwai highlighted that the group’s decision was fueled by growing dissatisfaction with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
“Today, every responsible Nigerian is looking beyond the APC government,” Farakwai declared. “Our people are hungry for change, not just in leadership but in the culture and efficacy of governance. Nigerians want genuine transformation rooted in democratic ideals.”
A Vision for a New Nigeria
The group revealed that it has developed a comprehensive structure, including a logo, manifesto, constitution, and flag, all submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of the registration process.
Farakwai outlined TNN’s mission to promote equity, justice, and equal opportunity for all Nigerians, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, or religion. He added, “Team New Nigeria is stepping forward at this critical time to offer Nigerians a brand-new platform to actualize their aspirations and take active roles in governance.”
Expanding Membership Base
Boasting 26.3 million registered members nationwide, TNN is intensifying efforts to grow its support base. In Kano State alone, the leadership has approved additional registration materials, ensuring that more Nigerians can join the movement. “Membership registration is free, and we encourage all Nigerians to be part of this historic transformation,” Farakwai said.
What’s Next for TNN?
In the coming weeks, TNN plans to roll out its national strategy, beginning with the public presentation of its manifesto, a book, and a newspaper aimed at communicating its vision. The party aims to provide not just an alternative government but a revolutionary governance culture that prioritizes the people.
As Nigeria gears up for the next electoral cycle, *Kwara Express* will continue to monitor and report on TNN’s activities and its potential to reshape the nation’s political landscape.
