In a significant step towards youth empowerment and economic development, over 500 young people, predominantly women, graduated from various vocational training programs in Katsina State. The graduates were trained in diverse fields, including tailoring (141), leatherwork (114), catering (53), computer skills (27), cosmetology (90), and knitting (76).
Speaking at the graduation ceremony on Sunday, Governor Dikko Radda reiterated his administration’s commitment to citizen welfare and economic advancement. He urged the graduates to leverage their newly acquired skills as tools for change, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions with courage and to inspire others.
“Today’s achievements are not merely about certificates and skills; they symbolize the fulfillment of our promise to the young women of our state, that every dream is valid, every aspiration attainable, and every skill acquired is a stepping stone towards a brighter future,” Governor Radda stated in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
The governor also acknowledged the pivotal role of parents, guardians, and well-wishers in supporting the graduates throughout their journey.
In her welcome address, Jamila Mani, Special Adviser for the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development, highlighted the program’s expansion to include advanced technology training. She revealed that over 100 trainees are currently enrolled in robotics courses, achieving remarkable milestones such as developing automated irrigation systems, traffic light solutions, and self-driving car prototypes with accident detection capabilities.
“The success we celebrate today is a direct result of the support and strategic guidance provided by His Excellency, Governor Dikko Radda. His belief in the potential of the girl child and vision for a prosperous and inclusive Katsina State have made this possible,” Mani said.
Guest speaker Malama Ibrahim, in a lecture titled *”The Importance of Girl Child Education and Empowerment,”* emphasized the transformative power of education, urging the trainees to continue learning and growing.
The event underscored the Katsina State government’s dedication to empowering young women and fostering innovation, setting a strong foundation for future growth and development in the state.
