Tragedy struck the Yovoyan community in Badagry, Lagos, as an ex-police officer allegedly gunned down three people, including two family members, over a long-standing land dispute.
According to witnesses, the attack happened in the early hours of Tuesday. Survivors claim the former officer and an accomplice stormed the Atideka compound, killing Richard Atideka, his wife Latevi Atideka, and a neighbor, Muji Onilude, from the nearby Gberefu community.
A surviving relative, David Atideka, recounted his narrow escape, stating he saw his brother—the alleged killer—leaving the crime scene.
The killings come just days before a final court ruling on the disputed land, raising suspicions of a premeditated attack. While some family members insist the ex-officer is responsible, his son, Henry Atideka, denied the allegations, claiming unknown gunmen were behind the attack.
Police have taken the bodies to the General Hospital in Badagry and launched an investigation into the shocking crime.
