Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reiterated his administration’s dedication to empowering workers and equipping them with skills suited for the rapidly evolving global economy, as the state joined the rest of the world to mark the 2025 International Workers’ Day.
In a goodwill message posted on the official Facebook page of the Kwara State Government, the governor lauded the resilience and invaluable contributions of workers across public and private sectors, describing them as vital drivers of the state’s economic development.
“From civil servants and farmers to factory workers, teachers, health professionals, engineers, artisans, and others, your commitment and expertise form the bedrock of our progress,” AbdulRazaq said.
He outlined several initiatives aimed at preparing the state’s workforce for future demands, including the development of an Innovation Hub, ICT centres, and a Visual Arts Centre. These projects, he noted, are part of efforts to align with technological advancements such as automation and artificial intelligence.
“As the dynamics of the global workplace continue to change, it’s imperative that we evolve alongside it—embracing innovation and focusing on both present and future opportunities,” the governor added.
AbdulRazaq also highlighted strides made in sustaining financial stability, prompt salary payments, support for small businesses, and job creation through infrastructure development and investment-friendly reforms.
He extended appreciation to labour leaders for their partnership and commitment to fostering a conducive environment for workers across the state.
The Workers’ Day celebration in Ilorin featured solidarity marches, rallies, and calls from labour unions for improved working conditions and the implementation of a revised minimum wage.
