In a rather unusual expression of support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, a resident of Jibia, Katsina State, has attributed his decision to marry a second wife to what he described as improved security in the region.
Speaking during a Hausa-language interview, the man said his hometown has become safer under the current administration, giving him the peace of mind to expand his household.
“I thank President Tinubu. Under his leadership, I married a second wife. Bandits no longer terrorize us like before,” he said with pride.
Jibia, a town that borders Niger Republic, has for years struggled with frequent attacks by armed bandits. But recent reports suggest that military operations in the area have increased, resulting in fewer incidents and a return to relative calm.
His statement comes at a time when public opinion on Tinubu’s handling of the economy and security remains divided. While many Nigerians are still battling with rising living costs and economic hardship, some citizens in parts of the North say they are beginning to feel a difference — particularly in the area of personal safety.
The man’s bold declaration has sparked reactions online, with some hailing his optimism and others questioning the broader reality for millions still affected by insecurity.
