The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered another setback as three of its senators from Kebbi State have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The senators—Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), a former state governor; Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North); and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South)—announced their defection following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Friday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The lawmakers were accompanied by the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, in what is being described as a significant political shift in Kebbi State.
Also in attendance at the meeting were Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris, Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu, and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Atiku Bagudu.
The defection is expected to further strengthen the APC’s political presence both in Kebbi State and at the national level, as strategic realignments continue within the country’s political landscape.
