Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has concluded preparations for the 2025 Hajj, with the first batch of intending pilgrims scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia on May 12.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, announced this during an enlightenment programme held at the Board’s premises in Ilorin. He stated that the airlift will begin from the Ilorin International Airport.
According to Alhaji Abdulkadir, vaccination for all intending pilgrims has been completed, and the distribution of uniforms and travel kits has also been finalized. A total of 2,174 pilgrims from the state are expected to be airlifted through four scheduled flights, each carrying 550 passengers.
The flight schedule is as follows:
- First Batch: May 12
- Second Batch: May 14
- Third Batch: May 16
- Final Batch: May 17
The Board Chairman, Professor Mashood Mahmud-Jimba, advised pilgrims to uphold discipline and avoid the use of abusive language, particularly during their stay on the plain of Arafat, to ensure a spiritually fulfilling experience.
In a lecture at the event, the Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, urged pilgrims to fear Allah, remain patient, and focus on the purpose of the pilgrimage.
Representatives from key agencies, including the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), NAFDAC, NDLEA, Nigerian Customs Service, and FOMWAN, also addressed the pilgrims. They emphasized the importance of following Saudi Arabia’s Hajj regulations and maintaining good conduct as ambassadors of Kwara State and Nigeria.
A key highlight of the programme was a live demonstration of Hajj rites to guide pilgrims on the proper steps and procedures during the pilgrimage.
