The Akwa Ibom State Government has reportedly excluded the Channels Television cameraman and reporter from its official press corps.
According to a report by Premium Times, the action was taken following the circulation of a video clip showing Governor Umo Eno urging his Commissioners and political appointees to either align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) or resign. The footage was allegedly recorded and published by the Channels TV team.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Government House in Uyo, has since sparked controversy over press freedom and political alignment.
Efforts to get a response from the Channels TV crew were unsuccessful, as calls placed to their mobile phones went unanswered.
