Temple Ojinnaka, captain of the U21 team at English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, has revealed he is open to representing Nigeria at senior international level, according to OwnGoalNigeria.com.
The 20-year-old defender, who was born in Italy to Nigerian parents, has emerged as one of the standout performers in Premier League 2 and is widely expected to break into Wolves’ first team in the coming season.
Ojinnaka remains eligible to represent either Italy or Nigeria, having not featured for any youth teams of both nations. Speaking on his international future, he admitted the decision would be a tough one.
“It would be an honour to receive a call-up from the Nigerian national team, but I’m not sure there has been any contact with the federation,” he told Numero-diez.com. “If I had to choose, it would certainly be a very difficult decision because I consider myself both Italian and Nigerian.”
Known primarily as a centre-back, Ojinnaka showcased his adaptability last season by also playing in midfield and occasionally at right-back — a versatility that has caught the attention of coaches and scouts alike.
His growing profile could soon attract interest from national selectors, as Nigeria continues to monitor eligible talents across Europe.
