Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has reportedly set two conditions that must be fulfilled for him to remain at the club beyond this summer.
According to The Athletic, the Brazilian is scheduled to hold talks with incoming manager Xabi Alonso in the coming weeks to determine his role in the team going forward.
Rodrygo, 24, is said to have grown increasingly frustrated last season after losing his place in the starting lineup under former manager Carlo Ancelotti. The arrivals of Jude Bellingham in 2023 and Kylian Mbappé in 2024 saw him fall down the pecking order, with Ancelotti often favoring a front three of Mbappé, Vinicius Jr, and Bellingham.
The winger was frequently used as a substitute, a situation that reportedly led to speculation he was open to leaving the Spanish giants. However, sources close to the player now suggest that he may be willing to stay—provided the club meets two specific demands.
Firstly, Rodrygo wants assurances that he will once again be considered a key part of the squad. Secondly, he is requesting to be deployed in his natural position on the left wing, rather than on the right, where he has played in recent seasons.
Meanwhile, Premier League club Arsenal are said to be monitoring the situation. Manager Mikel Arteta is believed to be a long-time admirer of the player and is reportedly keen to strengthen his attack ahead of the new season.
Rodrygo joined Real Madrid from Brazilian side Santos in 2019 and has since played a vital role in several of the club’s successes, including their Champions League and La Liga triumphs.
