Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has died at the age of 82 in a London clinic.
The announcement was made on Sunday through a statement shared by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, via his personal X (formerly Twitter) account.
“INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIRRAJIUUN. The family of the former president has announced his passing this afternoon in a London clinic,” the post read. “May Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
Prior to his death, Buhari was reported to be undergoing medical care. While details of his health condition had stirred public concern, Tribune Online noted that his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, had recently confirmed he was receiving treatment, though he denied reports that the former leader was critically ill.
