Senior participants of Course 47 from the prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State, paid a significant visit to the Kwara Garment Factory in Ilorin on Monday, as part of their Kwara State study tour.
Led by Colonel Usman Hashim Muhammed, the delegation of senior military officers from Nigeria and allied nations was warmly welcomed by the Managing Director of the Kwara Garment Factory, Hajia Bukola Adedeji. She guided them on an insightful tour of the facility’s operations.
Hajia Adedeji expressed her delight in hosting the esteemed visitors, highlighting the factory’s crucial role in industrial growth, job creation, and the state’s economic diversification agenda. The officers witnessed the entire production process, from fabric cutting to the final touches, and interacted with the factory’s skilled workforce and modern equipment.
Alhaji Ganiyu Shuaib, the Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, emphasized that this visit was part of a broader exploration of key institutions within Kwara State, aimed at enhancing the participants’ understanding of governance and national development strategies.
Colonel Muhammed lauded the Kwara State Government and the garment factory’s management for their hospitality. He explained that the study tour, themed “Harnessing Grassroots Intelligence for Enhancing Internal Security,” seeks to bolster civil-military relations, foster community engagement, and examine how economic initiatives contribute to national security and sustainable development.
He commended the factory’s operational efficiency and its positive impact on youth empowerment and poverty alleviation through job creation.
The visit featured engaging interactions between the course participants and factory staff, underscoring the vital role of grassroots economic ventures like the garment factory in fostering peace and security.
The Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, stands as Nigeria’s leading institution for training mid-level officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces and allied countries for higher command and staff responsibilities.
The delegation received branded souvenirs, including T-shirts and caps, as a memento of their visit.
