The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has reached out to the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) for collaboration on sustainable peace and security initiatives aimed at stabilizing the Niger Delta region. This partnership was discussed during a courtesy visit by the PAP Administrator, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, to the National Coordinator of the NCTC, Major General Adamu Laka, in Abuja on Friday.
Dr. Otuaro emphasized that the partnership with the NCTC, which operates under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), would enhance the ongoing peace and security efforts in the Niger Delta. He highlighted that a peaceful Niger Delta is crucial for increasing Nigeria’s oil output and improving the country’s economic well-being, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We are eager to work with the NCTC to deepen our peace and security processes in the Niger Delta,” Dr. Otuaro stated. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would make the region safer and more stable.
The PAP Administrator’s visit underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing the complex security challenges in the Niger Delta. The partnership aims to leverage the expertise and resources of both the PAP and the NCTC to foster long-term peace and development in the region.
The initiative has been well-received by stakeholders, who believe that such collaborations are essential for achieving lasting stability and prosperity in the Niger Delta.
