As Nigeria continues to grapple with evolving security threats, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on newly passed-out recruits of the Nigerian Army to remain steadfast and combat-ready in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.
Speaking at the Passing Out Parade of the 88 Regular Recruits Intake at Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State, on Saturday, where 6,195 recruits completed their training, General Oluyede stressed the need for professionalism, resilience, and unwavering courage in the face of adversity.
He reminded the recruits of the army’s core values—discipline, loyalty, integrity, selfless service, courage, and respect for others—urging them to embody these principles in their service to the nation.
“As you join the ranks today, you become part of Nigeria’s response to the threats of terrorism and insurgency,” Oluyede stated. “Your conduct must reflect the training you’ve received, and you must remain courageous no matter the odds.”
He acknowledged the rigorous journey the recruits began on January 13, 2025, and assured them of continued support from the Army Headquarters. He encouraged them to remain true to their oath and stay committed to excellence and patriotism.
While commending their resilience, the Army Chief reiterated his commitment to their welfare and urged them to rest briefly before preparing to receive the next batch, as recruitment for the 89 Regular Intake is already in progress.
