Chelsea have officially announced the signing of Mamadou Sarr from French Ligue 1 outfit RC Strasbourg. The young defender has penned a long-term deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
Sarr, 19, featured prominently for Strasbourg during the 2024/25 campaign, making 28 appearances across all competitions. He played a pivotal role in helping the French side secure qualification for European competition next season.
“Welcome to Chelsea, Mamadou,” the club said in a statement released on Monday.
In a related development, Manchester City confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson will depart the club upon the expiration of his contract this summer.
Carson, 39, joined City in 2019 and has since been an integral part of the goalkeeping department under Pep Guardiola. He initially arrived on loan before completing a permanent move in 2021.
The former England international made his City debut in May 2021 against Newcastle United and featured again in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Sporting CP in the 2021/22 season.
“Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and wish him the very best of luck for the future,” the club said in a statement on Monday.
