The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions, including Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. According to the statement, the governor also approved the immediate disengagement of the management staff of Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin City.
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions in Edo State with immediate effect,” the statement read.
While the reasons for the dissolution were not disclosed, the statement directed all affected members of the Governing Councils to hand over government properties in their possession to the heads of their respective institutions.
Similarly, management staff of the two hospitals were instructed to hand over all government properties to the most senior officers in their institutions.
This sweeping action marks a significant reshuffle in the administration of Edo State’s educational and healthcare institutions.
