Nollywood star Funke Akindele has issued a strong warning against piracy ahead of the release of her highly anticipated movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa. The movie is set to hit cinemas on Friday, December 13, 2024.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Akindele cautioned fans against recording or sharing clips of the movie while watching in theaters, emphasizing that such actions amount to piracy.
“Don’t be scared, I’m fine,” she said. “But if you go to see my movie and bring out your phone or any device to film, that won’t be fine. I know you love and respect me, but filming my movie is not supporting me.”
The actress encouraged fans to show their support in other ways, such as going to the cinema, taking pictures by the movie stands, and sharing official trailers and teasers.
“No! Uploading it on your social media is not support,” Akindele emphasized. “Piracy is killing us. We need to grow more than this. We spent a lot of money on this project.”
She further revealed that serious security measures are being implemented to prevent piracy and warned that anyone caught violating the rules would face arrest.
Akindele concluded by thanking her fans for their love and support but urged them to help fight piracy by enjoying the movie legally.
