Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reaffirmed his support for youth development and social unity through sports, hosting the organisers of #PlayWithKwaraYouth in Ilorin on Thursday. The Governor commended the initiative’s efforts in fostering peace and harmony across the state, describing it as a powerful tool for youth engagement and political cohesion.
Since its inception in 2022, #PlayWithKwaraYouth has held annual sporting events to unite young people from various backgrounds, easing political tensions and promoting mutual understanding. Governor AbdulRazaq expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming December event, envisioning future editions expanding to every local government area.
“This programme is more about engaging and uniting our youth rather than competition,” said AbdulRazaq, likening it to a growing movement with national potential. The delegation was led by Yusuf Mutiu Olaitan and supported by Basheer Luqman Olanrewaju, who shared their goal of bridging political divides among Kwara youth through football and other games.
AbdulRazaq was joined by key government officials, including Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah, and APC Chieftain Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin, in welcoming the initiative as a model of peace and youth-driven community building.
