Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed delight over the appointment of Senator Sadiq Umar (Kwara North) as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Business—a key legislative organ responsible for setting the agenda and guiding proceedings in the upper chamber.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor described Senator Sadiq’s selection as a well-deserved recognition of his experience, calm disposition, and reputation for fostering consensus.
“The choice of Senator Sadiq is befitting, given his ranking status as a returning lawmaker, his calm demeanour, and his love for peace and consensus building,” the statement read.
Governor AbdulRazaq also extended gratitude to the leadership of the Senate for what he described as an honour not just to Senator Sadiq, but to the entire state and particularly the people of Kwara North.
“This is a proud moment for us all, and we have no doubt that Senator Sadiq will bring diligence, discipline, and inclusiveness to bear in his new role,” the Governor added.
He wished the lawmaker success in discharging his responsibilities as head of one of the most strategic committees in the National Assembly.
Senator Sadiq’s appointment marks a significant milestone for Kwara North’s representation in national politics, reinforcing the region’s growing influence in legislative affairs.
