Ilorin, Nigeria – The Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq CON, has commended the remarkable initiative spearheaded by the CEO of Image Merchant Promotions Limited and publisher of PRNigeria, Alhaji Yushau Shu’aibu. The initiative is part of the ongoing PRNigeria Young Communication Fellowship, which is currently taking place in Ilorin.
This fellowship is among several activities organized by PRNigeria aimed at nurturing and mentoring young, aspiring media professionals. It focuses on various areas, including solutions and developmental journalism, investigative reporting, fact-checking, and strategic PR communications.
Speaking at the official unveiling of the Ilorin Cohort of the fellowship, the Honourable Commissioner for Communication in Kwara State, Mrs. Bola Olukoju, who represented the Governor, extolled the initiative, urging the fellows to seize the opportunity for their professional growth. She highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to bridge the information and technology gap in the state and reiterated their full support for both the fellows and the organization behind the program.
In a similar vein, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, was represented by Dr. Falilat Olaitan Jimoh, Head of Innovation and Digital Inclusion at NITDA. Dr. Jimoh emphasized the transformative role of communication in today’s digital age, particularly through the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
The fellows also had the privilege of hosting the Honourable Minister for Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, who was represented by the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Baba Ndace. The session was described as highly enlightening and impactful.
Speaking to journalists, Alhaji Yushau Shu’aibu highlighted the initiative as a means of giving back to society by equipping Nigerian youth with essential skills to stay ahead in the evolving media landscape.
In his remarks, one of the fellows, Basheer Luqman Olarewaju ANIPR, stressed the importance of government and stakeholders supporting such initiatives, noting that it presents an opportunity to address the nation’s developmental challenges. He also expressed his gratitude to the organizers for their unwavering support.
