Kwara State farmers have gained a significant advantage with the “Farm To Feed” initiative led by Professor Abubakar Sulyman, Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS). This program, aimed at enhancing food security and advancing agriculture in Kwara, provided farmers with critical resources.
Representing the DG at the launch, Special Adviser on Political Matters, Alhaji Owolabi Wopa, emphasized the program’s alignment with the agricultural agendas of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON. He noted that despite initial skepticism, the initiative has proven to be genuine. “Many thought it was a scam, but today’s event demonstrates its authenticity,” Wopa said. Farmers who registered online have already received access to prepared farmland and 100,000 naira each to boost productivity. He urged beneficiaries to use the funds to support both federal and state agricultural goals.
Wopa further acknowledged the partnership with the Kwara Renaissance Group, commending their role in implementing the initiative.
Dr. Muhammad Bashir Alao, SAPMED Kwara coordinator, praised the program’s potential to transform local agriculture. Beneficiaries like Sanusi Yahaya expressed gratitude, describing the initiative as crucial for sustaining their agricultural activities.
The Farm To Feed initiative has brought renewed hope to Kwara’s agricultural sector, empowering local farmers to expand operations and support the state’s journey towards sustainable food security.
