In a deeply moving event, the matriarch of the Yar’adua family, Hajiya Dada, has passed away, leaving behind a remarkable legacy as the only woman in Nigeria to have given birth to a President, a former Vice President, a Minister, a Governor and Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, the current Chairman, Senate Committee on Army.
Hajiya Dada, who passed away on Monday evening in Katsina, was not only the mother of former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua but also a grandmother to three First Ladies.
Hajiya Dada’s life was an extraordinary one, marked by the achievements of her sons and daughters who, through her, made significant contributions to the political landscape of Nigeria. The Yar’adua family, a prominent political dynasty in Nigeria, has produced several prominent public figures who have served the country in various capacities, and Hajiya Dada was the very foundation of this success.
Her passing is a significant loss for the Yar’adua family and indeed for the nation as a whole.
Kwara Express learnt that she died at the Katsina Teaching Hospital on Monday evening after a brief illness.
Burial arrangement for the late Hajia Dada will be announced later by the family.
Umaru Musa Yar’adua served as the president of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in May 2010.
