The Ilorin Eid Committee has released a detailed set of guidelines to ensure a peaceful and well-coordinated 2025 Eid-Kabir celebration in the Kwara State capital. Addressing journalists on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. A. A. Amuda, emphasized the need for strict compliance with the protocols ahead of the Eid prayer scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025.
As part of security arrangements, all activities at the Eid prayer ground are to cease by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, to allow security agencies to thoroughly secure the premises. On the day of the celebration, worshippers are expected to be seated by 8:00 a.m., after which no vehicles will be allowed into the prayer area. Parking will be restricted to designated areas only.
The committee announced traffic restrictions on key access roads, including Unity Road (GTB/Jasse Junction), Stadium Road/New Yidi Junction, Muslim Cemetery Junction, and Asa Dam by Fossil Fuel Station. Hawking, begging, and the display of political or organizational banners and leaflets have been banned in and around the prayer ground. The use of megaphones is also prohibited, and motorcycles, tricycles, and vehicles with spy plate numbers will not be permitted entry.
Worshippers have been advised to use designated sanitation points for ablution and other needs. The entry of sachet and bottled water is not allowed, as water will be provided on site. Parents are urged to monitor their children closely to prevent them from wandering off during the prayers. Only accredited journalists will be granted access to the main prayer area.
In addition, the committee warned that any broken-down vehicles around the Eid ground must be removed before Thursday, June 5, or they will be towed at the owner’s expense. The committee called on all attendees to cooperate fully with security personnel and officials to ensure a safe and spiritually rewarding celebration.
