In a significant move to strengthen the judiciary and enhance justice delivery in Kwara State, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has sworn in six new judges for the state high court. The ceremony, which took place at the Government House in Ilorin, marked a milestone in the state’s administration of justice and underscored the Governor’s commitment to the rule of law.
The new judges, who were appointed after a rigorous selection process, are Ibijoke Olabisi Olawoyin, Fatimah Funsho Abdulrasaq, Oluwatosin Adenike Adeniyi, Yusuf Diko Adebayo, Olalekan Osuolale Ajayi, and Muritala Folohunsho. They bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the bench, and their appointment is expected to significantly enhance the capacity of the state’s judiciary.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Governor Abdulrazaq congratulated the judges on their appointment and expressed confidence in their ability to uphold justice for all. He noted that this was the first time six judges were sworn in at the same time in the state and brought the total number of high court judges appointed during his tenure to 11.
The Governor also announced plans to build a new court complex, following the renovation and remodeling of several courts in the state. He presented new SUVs to the judges and commended the judiciary, legislature, and security agencies for their collaborative approach to development and peaceful coexistence in the state.
Chief Judge of the State, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, praised the Governor’s commitment to the rule of law and expressed confidence that the new judges would enhance the speedy delivery of justice. Justice Ibijoke Olabisi Olawoyin, speaking on behalf of the new judges, promised to uphold the ideals of justice, fairness, and equity in dispensing justice to all.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the state, including the Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi; representative of the First Lady and Commissioner for Women Affairs, Afolashade Oluwakemi; Deputy Speaker, Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode; and other top government officials, judicial officers, and traditional rulers.
With this development, Kwara State has taken a significant step towards enhancing its justice delivery system, and the people of the state can expect a more efficient and effective judiciary.
