The Kano State Police Command has apprehended several suspects linked to a series of robbery and vehicle theft incidents across the state, recovering stolen vehicles, a motorcycle, and other valuable items in the process.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, who noted that the arrests took place between May 8 and May 28, 2025.
Among those arrested is Manassa Luper Israel, who was allegedly caught attempting to sell a stolen white Mercedes-Benz container truck in Kano. The vehicle had reportedly been stolen from a resident in Abuja, and was recovered by the police following the suspect’s arrest.
In a separate operation on May 28, police operatives acting on credible intelligence apprehended 23-year-old Murtala Wada of Hotoro, Ladanai Quarters. He is believed to be a member of an armed robbery gang operating along Maiduguri Road. A Toyota Sienna with mismatched number plates and a Qlink motorcycle were recovered from him.

Earlier, on May 8, the police intercepted a black Opel Astra suspected to have been stolen. The vehicle, which was loaded with textile materials and other goods, was abandoned by the suspect who fled the scene.

Further recoveries were made on May 21, including a Hyundai Elantra, a Suzuki lady’s motorcycle, five electric motors, one alternator, two roller machines, and two mixer machines.

SP Kiyawa confirmed that investigations into the various cases are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of inquiries.
Reacting to the developments, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, commended the officers involved, reaffirming the Command’s dedication to protecting lives and property.
“These arrests and recoveries reflect the commitment and diligence of our personnel. We remain resolute in ensuring the safety and security of all residents,” he stated.
The Command also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the provided emergency lines.
