Former Head of Service in Kwara State, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, was laid to rest on Thursday amid heartfelt tributes from top government officials, former colleagues, and loved ones who gathered to honour a woman widely regarded as a symbol of dedication, integrity, and professionalism in public service.
At a solemn service of songs held at the State Banquet Hall in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by Deputy Governor Elder Kayode Alabi, described the late Oluwole as an exemplary civil servant whose legacy would continue to inspire generations.
“Her passing is not just a loss to her immediate family but to the entire state and everyone who worked with her. She carried out her duties with wisdom, professionalism, and a deep sense of responsibility,” the Governor said. He extended condolences to her family and prayed for the strength to bear the loss.

Also paying glowing tributes was Alhaji Salman Adelodun Ibrahim, a former Head of Service, who recalled Oluwole’s unmatched commitment and efficiency. “She was a go-getter, principled, humble, and a dedicated reformer of the civil service,” he said.
Prince Ayo Fagbemi, Chairman of the Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, described Oluwole as a rare gem, a role model who led with fairness, justice, and fear of God. “Her recent retirement should have ushered in a time of rest and renewed impact. Her death is painful,” he said.
Old classmates from St. Clare’s Anglican Girls’ Grammar School, Offa, including Adefunke Oyinloye (FCIA) and Mrs. Opeyemi Oladipupo, recalled her brilliance and leadership even as a student.
Barrister Rotimi Bello, speaking for the family, expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq and other dignitaries for their support, noting that Oluwole’s devotion to both family and duty will forever be remembered.
Mrs. Oluwole’s career was marked by a string of civil service reforms and a tireless commitment to professionalism, making her passing not just a personal loss, but a significant moment in the history of public administration in Kwara State.
