The future of journalism is bright as Kwara Express makes a stunning debut! At the NUJ Hall in Ilorin, esteemed guests and professionals from all walks of life came together to witness the launch of a promising new platform in fact-based reporting, taking the reins of authentic storytelling.

Mr. Sheriff Dayor Ibrahim (Gold), the keynote speaker, praised the noble profession of journalism, emphasizing the importance of integrity, objectivity, and accuracy for success.

The discussion sessions were a lively exchange of ideas, focusing on the roles of governance, journalism, and public relations in shaping our world. The attendees spoke with passion, reflecting on the values that have shaped their respective fields and the challenges that lie ahead.

The event was not only a platform for brave words, but also a gathering of thought leaders, media professionals, and public officials. Among the esteemed speakers were renowned figures such as: Mr. Lateef Ishowo, a seasoned public affairs analyst; Mr. Abdulwaheed Onikanhun, a lecturer at Ahman Patigi University; Mr. Abdulrasheed Akogun, a veteran journalist; Comrade Olarewaju Ishowo, a distinguished public affairs analyst; Dr. Lawal O. Olohungbebe, the Senior Special Assistant on Community Development to the Kwara State Governor; Mrs. Fatimah Bintu Dikko, a respected community figure and Mr. Bolaji Aladie, a notable personality in the media space, amongst others.

Their participation at the event signified the gravity of the occasion and the importance of the message being conveyed.

Kwara Express stands ready to lead the way, blazing a trail of integrity, accuracy, and objectivity in their reporting. This marks the beginning of a new era in journalism—one where the truth is held sacred and the power of authentic storytelling is harnessed for the greater good.

In his speech, the Executive Director, Basheer Luqman Olarewaju anipr said,

“Good day to you all!

Let me begin by thanking the Almighty Allah for inspiring this groundbreaking project. In an era where misinformation and disinformation are rampant, where fake news and poorly curated content has plagued the society with no regard for social status or profession, we are launching “Kwara Express” today as a beacon of truth and reliability in the media landscape.

Of course, some have have raised concerns about the name “Kwara Express,” citing its similarity to the defunct transportation agency in Kwara State or the perception that the name “Kwara” may limit the reach of the media outlet. However, we believe that the name carries a positive association in the minds of Kwarans, which will ease our efforts in branding and promotion.

If someone in Lagos can trust New York Times and someone in Abuja can read BBC, Kwara Express can certainly become a household name around the globe in the near future. Both of these media outlets are widely recognized and respected globally, which is exactly what we hope to achieve with Kwara Express. Our dedication to factual reporting, engaging storytelling, and responsible journalism will set us apart and establish us as a leading voice in the media landscape.

Furthermore, we envision Kwara Express as a global media outlet that will put Kwara State on the map and provide reliable, high-quality content for audiences around the world. Our goal is to become a household name, a source of reliable information that people from all over the world can trust. We understand that this is a lofty ambition, but with hard work, dedication, and a commitment to ethical journalism, we believe we can make Kwara Express a media powerhouse that resonates with audiences everywhere.

This venture is not just about building a media empire, but also about serving the greater good. By combating misinformation and promoting authentic stories, we can make a positive impact on society and empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions.

We believe that every story deserves to be told with integrity, and we pledge to be a trustworthy source of information for our readers. Our team of dedicated professionals is committed to producing content that is engaging, informative, and unbiased.

As you join us on this journey as we transform the media landscape and create a brighter, more informed future for all. I welcome you all to Kwara Express!

 Thank you.
