The Kwara State Government has declared that it is up-to-date with salary and pension payments for all employees and retirees who have valid registration details with the Kwara State Social Identity Database (SSID) under the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA).
In a statement issued in Ilorin on Thursday, the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, said that salary and pension disbursements had been completed for the month of May 2025, with the exception of individuals whose records are incomplete, incorrect, or unverified.
Dr. Nuru explained that the verification process through the SSID has significantly improved the accuracy, transparency, and efficiency of payment disbursements. She revealed that 97% of state employees with valid registrations have been fully paid, while the remaining 3% were excluded due to invalid or incomplete data.
Similarly, 81.2% of state pensioners with valid SSID numbers received their May pensions, she said, adding that 17% have been on hold for over a year due to failure to participate in physical verification or register with KWSRRA. Another 1.8% were excluded over issues such as invalid SSID numbers or failure to show up for verification — a group that includes people living abroad and, in some cases, deceased persons.
At the local government level, including the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the commissioner said 95% of submitted payroll had been paid, while the remaining 5% face similar issues such as name mismatches, incorrect staff numbers, invalid NIN or SSID numbers, or no KWSRRA registration.
For local government pensioners, 76.7% have been verified and paid, while 23.3% are yet to be paid due to incomplete verification or registration.
To address these issues, Dr. Nuru said the government has launched a dedicated SMS complaint system to allow affected pensioners resolve payment problems without needing to travel. Pensioners can text their full name, verification number, pension number, bank details, NIN, and KWSRRA SSID to 08032059986. Those who have misplaced their SSID can retrieve it online by visiting kwasrra.ng/register/validate and inputting their NIN.
She emphasized the government’s ongoing engagement with media, labour unions, and stakeholder groups to raise awareness and ensure more people complete their registration.
Dr. Nuru stressed that the administration remains committed to the prompt and full payment of salaries and pensions, noting that the SSID verification framework is essential for maintaining transparency and safeguarding public funds.
She also urged media outlets to carefully verify claims made by individuals regarding government activities, warning against allowing “partisan analysts” to spread misinformation or stoke public disaffection.
