The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to improving the welfare and living conditions of children in orphanages and correctional centres, ensuring they have better opportunities to thrive.
Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Nnafatima Imam Mariam, PhD, reaffirmed this commitment during her visit on Wednesday to the Children Rehabilitation Centre in Amoyo and the Children Reception Centre in Pipeline, Ilorin.
She emphasized that the state government prioritizes the well-being of children with physical and mental challenges, recognizing them as an integral part of society. She further assured that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as a father to all, remains dedicated to ensuring that children in care homes receive the necessary support to live meaningful and comfortable lives.
Hon. Mariam expressed satisfaction with the government’s efforts in nurturing children from diverse backgrounds. She highlighted success stories of orphans who have completed their education and are awaiting their National Youth Service, while others are preparing for admission into tertiary institutions.
During her visit, she encouraged the children to embrace values such as diligence, respect, perseverance, and determination, reassuring them that the government will continue to support and uplift them for a brighter future.
She also pledged that the government would enhance resources for the smooth operation of these facilities, in line with the AbdulRazaq-led administration’s vision of creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can succeed.
