The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed three officers for their alleged involvement in the death of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, on September 4, 2024. The officers—Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Samuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip—were found guilty of leaving their post, engaging in corrupt practices, and exercising unlawful authority.
In a statement released Monday night, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Toun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that the officers will soon face court arraignment. The statement read: “After a thorough investigation and an internal disciplinary trial, the three officers have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, effective October 4, 2024. They will be arraigned in court shortly.”
This action highlights the commitment of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to upholding justice and accountability within the force. The Kwara State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Victor Olaiya, extends its deepest condolences to Ishola’s family and friends and assures the public that justice has been served.
“We urge the public to trust in the legal process as we remain dedicated to maintaining law and order in Kwara State,” Ejire-Adeyemi added.
