The Kwara State Taskforce on Billboards and Signages has relaxed part of its restrictions on outdoor advertising, allowing advertisers to update banners on approved billboard structures and continue maintenance of existing installations.
The Commissioner for Communication and chair of the taskforce, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, made the announcement in a statement, stressing that while flex/banner replacements are now permitted, the ban on erecting new billboards remains strictly in effect. Offenders risk heavy sanctions and legal action.
In a bid to improve transparency and compliance, the taskforce also revealed plans to roll out a digital registration portal for outdoor advertising. This platform is expected to simplify the permit process and improve monitoring.
The committee commended stakeholders in the advertising sector for their cooperation during the ongoing urban renewal drive, emphasizing the shared goal of preserving Kwara’s visual appeal.
