The Kwara State Government has announced that the modified Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise for April will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, between 7:00 am and 10:00 am across the state.
In a press statement issued by the State Ministry of Environment, residents in the state capital and across all Local Government Areas are urged to participate fully by cleaning their homes and surroundings to promote public hygiene.
Speaking after a pre-sanitation meeting, the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in keeping the state clean. She reminded citizens that the sanitation exercise is not just a government policy but a civic duty aimed at creating a healthier environment.
Addressing concerns about possible disruption to the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Commissioner clarified that there will be no restriction of movement for candidates, officials, or vehicles involved in the examination process.
“We are fully aware that UTME is ongoing and the state government will not create barriers for students striving to secure their future,” Hajia Buge said.
The Ministry’s Press Secretary, Shakirat Muritala, confirmed that security agencies have been duly notified to allow free movement for UTME candidates during the sanitation hours.
Residents are expected to comply with the sanitation directive while ensuring that UTME candidates are given smooth access to their exam centres.
