The Kwara State contingents made a resounding statement at the opening ceremony of the 8th National Youth Games, held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State. Clad in vibrant green and yellow attire, symbolizing the state’s colors, the athletes marched in unison, exuding pride and readiness to compete in various sporting events.
With over 200 athletes participating in athletics, boxing, football, swimming, basketball, and taekwondo, Kwara State officials are confident that their team will build on last year’s success, where they secured several medals. This year, they aim to surpass their previous achievements.
Kwara’s Director of Sports, Mallam Ibrahim Bako, commended the athletes for their discipline and dedication during training, urging them to embody the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the competition. “We are here to make Kwara proud, and I believe our athletes will deliver exceptional performances in every category,” he stated.
The 8th National Youth Games, an annual event aimed at discovering and nurturing young talents, will run for a week, with over 30 states in attendance. The event seeks to foster national unity and talent development among Nigerian youth.
