Kwara United earned their first away point of the season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa during NPFL matchday four.
In search of a turnaround in form, Coach Tunde Sanni made a bold decision by handing teenage defender Yahaya Ibrahim his debut start at right-back. The youngster rose to the occasion with a standout 90-minute performance, playing a key role in Kwara United’s solid defensive efforts.
Akanni Akeem gave the visitors the lead in the 66th minute, calmly placing his shot past Bayelsa United goalkeeper Godsgift Elkanah. However, Bayelsa United soon piled on the pressure, equalizing through Yahaya Ibrahim, who found the back of the net against Kwara United’s goalkeeper, Nurudeen Badmus.
Despite Bayelsa United’s late efforts to snatch a winner, Kwara United held their ground, with Ibrahim’s defensive contributions proving crucial in securing a valuable away point for the team.
