The Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWASRRA) has announced that over 350,000 residents have so far been registered as part of efforts to build a reliable database for security, planning, and development purposes.
This was disclosed by the Acting General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Tajudeen Jimoh, during the first quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing organized by the State Ministry of Communications on Wednesday in Ilorin.
According to Jimoh, the registration drive, backed by a directive from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, aims to issue every resident a unique State Security Identification (SSID) number or card. The SSID is now a mandatory requirement for accessing a range of government services, including school enrolment and examination registration at all levels in the state.
“From now on, students enrolling in public schools or registering for entrance, junior, and senior secondary exams will need to present their SSID numbers, as will their parents or guardians,” he stated.
Jimoh said the Agency is working closely with the Ministries of Education, Tertiary Education, Local Government and Community Development, among others, to ensure statewide compliance and increase public participation.
He outlined key achievements in the quarter under review, including the expansion of registration centres from 96 to 113 across all 16 local government areas and the recruitment of an additional 200 adhoc staff, bringing the total workforce to 500.
The Agency is also stepping up SSID card distribution and enhancing service delivery through its newly established consultant’s office in Ilorin, which handles complaints and coordination.
In a move to ease registration for pensioners abroad or in remote areas, KWASRRA is finalizing an online system upgrade that includes a ‘liveness check’ and ‘face match’ feature—allowing users to complete registration remotely without the need for physical appearance.
“This online self-onboarding will help those outside Kwara, particularly pensioners, to register seamlessly and obtain their SSID numbers,” Jimoh added.
The Agency had recently completed the biometric capture of government workers and pensioners, reinforcing its commitment to a data-driven governance model aimed at improved planning, security, and social inclusion.
