In a spectacular display of academic excellence, 192 students from Lagos State University (LASU) are set to receive First Class honours during the institution’s 28th convocation ceremony. The announcement was made by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello at a press briefing on Thursday.
This year’s ceremony marks Prof. Olatunji-Bello’s fourth consecutive convocation as Vice-Chancellor. The 2023/2024 academic session saw 8,711 graduates with first degrees, including the standout achiever, NWOSU ISIOMA SYBIL, from the Biochemistry Department, who graduated with a CGPA of 4.93.
In total, LASU will confer degrees to 2,235 postgraduate students, including 302 postgraduate diplomas, 1,132 academic master’s degrees, and 125 PhDs. Additionally, two prominent Nigerians, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd) and Otunba Olufemi Olusegun Pedro, will receive Honorary Doctorates for their exceptional contributions to the university and national development.
The ceremony also celebrates the elevation of Professor Joseph Abayomi Olagunju to Distinguished Professor.
