The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has firmly stated that it will not accept any excuses from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding the boycott of the second leg of the Group D 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Super Eagles.
This stern stance comes after the Super Eagles and their officials were stranded at Al Abraq International Airport for over 16 hours following an unexpected diversion, leading to Nigeria’s decision to withdraw from the match.
In a statement released on its official social media handle, the LFF emphasized, “Some may be used to putting up obstacles before the match, but here in the heart of Benghazi, specifically on the grounds of the Martyrs of Benina Stadium, there is no room for excuses after the starting whistle.”
The LFF also shared photos of their players training ahead of the match, underscoring their readiness and commitment to proceed with the game as scheduled.
The LFF’s firm response highlights its determination to ensure that the match goes ahead, despite the challenges faced by the Nigerian team.
