Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo and former Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was elected National President of the Union on Saturday. The election, held at the Union’s Zonal Secretariat along Osogbo/Ikirun road, had Akinsanya as the sole candidate, with delegates from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti states participating in the voting process.
The election took place during the Union’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference and was observed by acting National President Aliyu Issa-Ore. Issa-Ore, represented by Mrs. Adedamola Salam from the Union’s National Headquarters, confirmed that the Southwest zone had fully adhered to Union rules in electing Akinsanya.
Other key officials elected include Tajudeen Agbede as Vice President, Southwest, and Akeem Adeosun as Trustee from the Zone.
After his oath-taking, Akinsanya called for unity among Union members, stating, “I have forgiven everyone who has offended me, and I hope those I have offended will forgive me as well. We must remain committed to preserving our Union and protecting our livelihoods.”
