With over 53% of young Nigerians aged 15-24 unemployed or underemployed, MSwitch Creative Hub has introduced the Remote Job Initiative, a program designed to connect Nigerian talent with global employers and boost the country’s digital economy.
Speaking at the launch in Abuja, MSwitch’s Executive Director and Co-founder, Zainab Salami, stressed the need for strategic interventions to address the rising unemployment rate. She revealed that the initiative will create 2,000 remote job opportunities for young creatives and tech professionals, allowing them to earn and thrive without leaving Nigeria.
“This program is not just about job placement,” Salami stated. “We are also investing in infrastructure, setting up co-working spaces with 24/7 electricity, high-speed internet, and cutting-edge technology to enhance productivity.”
The initiative is a collaboration with AfriLabs, Africa’s largest innovation and technology network. AfriLabs Chief Operating Officer, Ajibola Odukoya, highlighted the organization’s presence in 53 countries and its commitment to equipping African youth with skills and employment opportunities.
“We have created a pool of over 200,000 job vacancies for Africans. By using innovation hubs like MSwitch in Abuja, we provide world-class facilities to support remote work and tackle infrastructure challenges,” Odukoya explained.
MSwitch Group Chairman, Zainab Salami, reaffirmed the organization’s vision of making Nigeria a global hub for remote work, helping professionals secure international jobs while working locally.
“The Remote Job Initiative will not only empower Nigerian youth but also attract global employers, strengthen the country’s digital economy, and create sustainable career opportunities,” she concluded.
